Thanks for posting this Kurt, it hits the mark. I love This American Life and Ira Glass and this is just what I need to hear too. We'll all get there.
Speaking of working hard, my former teacher Ben Fenske, the hardest working artist I've ever seen is making beautiful paintings and they are hung at the Grenning Gallery in Sag Harbor, NY. check him out, he's amazing. grenninggallery.com
Thanks, for the heads-up Sarah. I can see he had some influence on the way you apply paint to the canvas.
Ben was(/is?) a huge influence on me. Still working on my own voice. He was my sole landscape painting teacher, and painting really. The russian guy I studied with made me draw and draw and draw and draw and draw - which was good too - but Ben taught me to paint.
